SUNDAY SPOTLIGHT: Cameron Clarke

The St. Paul Pioneers would like to recognize Offensive Lineman Cameron Clarke as our first Sunday Spotlight Pioneer. Clarke is enjoying his first season as a Pioneer and has made an impact that has turned heads. When asked about Clarke, Head Coach Damien Rochon-Washington said “He has been the epitome of what you want in the trenches since his first Pioneer practice. He's been a great addition on and off the field.”

Offensive Line Coach John “JB” Lipscomb spoke highly of Clarke. “As an offensive lineman, Cam has shown tremendous value and leadership to our team. If I had to describe him briefly, it will be simply edge control. When we need a big play going to the outside Cam is one guy we can depend on to set the edge and serve us up a nice platter of pancakes.”

When asked about what the Pioneers mean to him, Cameron Clarke did not mince words. “The Pioneers mean the world to me,” Clarke said with no shortage of happiness.. Clarke has played the game off football since he was in third grade. After being sidelined with injuries during his sophomore year at Augustana University, Clarke believed his football days were over. When he heard about the St. Paul Pioneers, Clarke knew he had to go back to what he said is “[his] first true love and with a new perspective.” Cameron’s history with injuries gives him a deep appreciation for the game. “One play might be the last time you lace them up and go to battle and you never know when that is,” Clarke said. “Without Pioneer football,” Clark said, ”a piece of me would be missing.”

We are proud to have Cameron Clarke on the Pioneers and look forward to his bright future both on and off the field. Cameron has said he plans to return to the Pioneers for the 2024 season.

The Sunday Spotlight is a new weekly publication that will highlight a person with the St. Paul Pioneers. During the season, it will focus on current players on the team.
